Jill began practicing yoga from a very young age. Her passion influenced extensive travel, allowing her to experience many types of yoga worldwide. Jill was introduced to the teachings of BKS Iyengar in 1996. BKS Iyengar is regarded as the foremost authority of Hatha Yoga in the world today, focusing intently on postural alignment and Prayanama (breath work).
In 2006, Jill attended the Iyengar Institute of Puna, India for 30 days to study with the Iyengar family. To be accepted into this program, one must be sponsored by a senior teacher & have studied Iyengar Yoga for a minimum of 8 years and demonstrate rigorous daily practice and continued study.
Jill continues to attend workshops, classes and international conventions with recognized senior Iyengar teachers, many of whom have studied under Mr. Iyengar for over 30 years. She also travels periodically to India to further her lifelong study in asana and philosophy, as required by the Iyengar Institute of Puna.
Jill is the Director of “YOGA on the BAY” on the majestic island of St Lucia in the Caribbean, conducting classes, workshops, and retreats in the art, philosophy and science of Yoga. Jill is also a certified Yoga Therapist, recognized by the International Association of Yoga Therapy, enabling her to bring the healing art of yoga to hospitals, schools, and recognized studios.
Jill has also been featured in international publications, including the cover of “Yoga Vitalitat Erhalten” (Keep Yoga Your Vitality), an illustrated book of Yoga postures & their effects, published in Germany.
