Alleviate Allergies the Natural Way by Laura Scoville

We asked Laura Scoville, LPS yoga instructor, Ayurveda Yoga Specialist and lover of all things natural, how she manages her nagging and often exhausting allergies. Here, she shares with us her story and personal favorite natural remedies to combat allergy symptoms.

Allergies can slow us down and make us feel cloudy, fatigued and heavy. They can make it difficult to breathe and create an inflamed, itchy feeling all over the body.

Unfortunately, allergies seem to run in my family. My father and brother have such severe allergies that they receive allergy shots. Rather than go down the same road and rely on shots, I decided to try a different route – to take control of my allergies the natural way. And I am happy to say that through a lot of research and various techniques, I have managed to hold off on those allergy shots!

Below I give you my five favorite remedies derived from my professional background as a yoga instructor and Ayurveda specialist and my passion and interest in oils and herbs. Click on the links for further information/instructions.

Laura's Top Five Natural Remedies for Allergies:

1. Essential Oil: Eucalyptus - several drops of the essential oil can be mixed with a carrier oil, such as coconut or sesame oil, and applied to the chest. It can also be added to a diffuser within your home, office, or yoga space!

2. Herb: Quercetin (taken orally)

3. Yoga Pose: Matsyasana, or Fish Pose

4. Pranayama (breathing exercise): Alternate Nostril Breathing

5. Ayurvedic Technique: Neti Pot
