Leann Beatty Talks Meditation
Our massage maven Leann Beatty tells us a little bit about her experience with meditation, an activity whereby the practitioner trains the the mind to enter into a specific realm of consciousness or awareness. The physical practice of yoga asana was developed to train the body to sit comfortably for extended periods of time in meditation.
Describe your first experience with meditation.
In high school I took a yoga class and the instructor taught us a simple mediation and gave me a copy of Siddhartha.
Why would you encourage others to meditate?
Because I have seen the difference regular mediation can make in the happiness and well-being in my life personally. I want to share that with others.
What is the benefit of meditation?
For myself, regular mediation helps me to deal with difficult and stressful situations in a more calm and reasonable way. My sleep has improved and bad habits seem easier to avoid.
What is your favorite form of meditation?
I love yin yoga! My favorite meditations are any I can do outside. Breath work , visualization… I can't say which is my favorite because I am still learning about and expanding my knowledge of meditation.
